Ongoing winter tire debate.....

Alright, here is my .02 on the tire debate below... take it or leave it, but I will tell you that I live on one of the worst (icy and steep) roads in Vermont (class 4)...
My 86 900 has had Hancook snows on it every winter. 4 studded snows have left me stranded maybe 5 times (going up my hill). Never have I had a problem with the back end coming out (and I have tried). Occasionally I have had the front end push in deep snow, but only at slow speeds with the turbo boosting (tire spin). These tires cost about 60-70 bucks and are worth every penny. They are the SAME tred pattern as Nokian Hakka's (the 10's, not the 1's) and cost much less. I now have them on my new 1990 900T and expect the same performance. If you live in a snowy (like real snow, not Jersey snow) climate I would reccommend this tire. If you are having problems with Hakka's in a snow storm then you shouldn't be out driving anyway. I have gone through 1' of fresh powder all over the road, and while it does take some time to get going, nothing tracks straighter in the snow or ice. anyone who has problems with hakka's in the winter should either stay home when it gets real bad or buy a snowmobile!
These are the best tires you could buy, and if your rear end slips out....
YOU CAN'T DRIVE! (or you have a bad wheel bearing)
Liam :-)
