I agree with steveC. i made a real mistake when I was in college. I was coming in to fast into the parking lot and I tried everything. Accellerate to try and pull the car around, slammed the brakes to try and slide the car, but I knew I wasn't going to make it. So I just let the car slide into the curb. The wheels were turned like I was turning when I hit the curb. I ended up creaming the wheel and bending the lower control arm. OUCH! I should have just hit it straight on and just ruined the wheel.
