I'm in the process of working out an ECU and 3" exhaust upgrade for my '95 Aero, and I settled on the TAQ unit. I would look elsewhere and compare before putting $1100 (or whatever) down on an upgraded Abbott ECU. Two others to consider are TAQ and Maptun, both of which are less expensive (~$750) and some feel are better programmed. Post a message on the Performance forum and ask for Karl, a Swedish gentlemen who has helped me in making the right decision. Robert LaVerne, who I'm purchasing the TAQ unit from, also watches this forum and is not only knowledgeable but would be willing to help, I'm sure.
Regardless of the path you take, you'll need to either send in your original unit or find a spare at a parts yard, as I don't know of any who will sell a reprogrammed ECU outright. My understanding is that all '93 and later 9K's use a T5 ECU, and if so you can simply find a used working unit (usually $150-200) and use it rather than your stock ECU, just in case you want to sell the car later without the upgraded box.
I'd recommend that you research this before jumping in. You also need to take steps to replace your exhaust system, and there are two options: (1) Replace the entire exhaust system with 3" components (downpipe all the way back to rear muffler), and (2) replace the DP and cat to 3", then reduce from 3" to 2¼" to mate to your stock system. The important thing is the size increase for the first two or three feet after the manifold to keep EGT (exhaust gas temps) under control. After that, you can reduce it down, although there may be a slight performance hit by doing so. After long deliberation, I've decided to go 3" all the way, sans resonator (middle muffler). I can help with obtaining these parts if you need help, and only the DP will be hard to find. I have been unable to obtain these anywhere except Europe. I, Robert L., and perhaps one more person will be placing an order soon, so if you want a DP you could come in with us and save on postage, which is rather high.
Let me know if you need any more info.
