It is possible that cycling the connectors on the ABS unit might help. Inside the hinged cover on the driver's side of the aquarium are all of the computers (mine's a 91). I took them out of their frames to get to the ABS (bottom most, naturally) and removed/replaced its connector a few times. (Power off, battery ground disconnected. Please don't do this at 20 below zero wearing lots of polyester & fur: static kils)
Then the same for the connectors on the brake master itself.
You might get lucky. However, you & I both have the problem now that if we fail to check our "Brake Fluid" light EVERY time we start up, we're in serious danger.
And frankly, when my ABS pump was being cranky, I was getting no warning from the "Brake FLuid" indicator anyway. Trust me, it'll scare the you-know-what out of you when that pedal turns to concrete.
You might enjoy removing the relays from the relay-box near the master "cylinder" and removing the tray they're socketed into: there's a couple of diodes under there that might be showing signs of age-related distress.
Good luck, this is a pesky problem
