Hi Jan
Yes, I too have the noisy when cold V6 on my Griffen. Does your sound get worse if you engage D or R immeadiatley after starting up? I suspected the box when I first got the car, but this has been given the green light by my transmission specielist who said it was engine noise worsening by loading the engine when engaging D or R.
I also noticed the same noise if I accelerated hard, but oly whilst the engine is under the initial load, try yours!
I tried to narrow down the noise thinking it was the A/C compressor, but it wasn't. So I thought clogged cam followers (150K miles last 40K without service history) from DIY servicers using wrong grade oil, so I flushed through several quick changes of 5/30 oil within the first 3K miles, it improved but not drastically.
The car is in dock at the moment for new cam belt, aux belt and rocker cover gaskets and service, I've asked the guy to lift the cams check the followers and see if any oil canals are blocked. I thought it strange that the noise disappears after about 1 min of idle, I wouldn't have thought the engine warms enough in this time to have any effect on bushes or bearings, hence I was looking at the oil route.
When I get the car back tomorrow I'll post what he found.
Terry
