Thanks all for the contributed knowledge. All sound good. Anders' list maybe should be printed and tacked to garage wall for all of us.
I owe you all an apology for saying "rear" (implying the end of the block where the flywheel is spinning) when I meant "aft." (the SIDE of the block where the intake is.) Oops. My very bad.
If this helps, the o-ring for my sender was $5 at West Suburban Imports here in Chicago. (The worst dealer on the planet, and the only dealer part I've EVER purchaed for less than $10 in over 21 years of driving SAABs)
Last but not least, some humor: duct tape on a SAAB? You betcha. When I saw Bell Helicopter's own A&P's and engineers applying it to a Jet-Ranger that was about to carry up an extremely odd camera-mount, I gained a new respect for a knowing use of the stuff. Besides, if this proves to be it (and I agree, duct-tape next to oil is ludicrous) it will have survived a YEAR of constant abuse. But it IS undignified...
Once again, to all my profound gratitude.
