I have the same car and you may look through some of my posts a year ago or so. Yours has the 'lightest' spring out there for a 9000. The spring diameter is smaller. The nivomat suspension when new left a reasonably decent handling car but with a few years the Nivomats die and leave for a poor handling car. My car with 150k was a boat, especially when compared to the other cars I was driving when I embarked on making it handle better. The CD had a stiffer body due to the rear shelf vs the hatchback and make good race touring cars when set up correctly. And I guess it depends on what year your friends car is and model also. There were quite a few different spring rates out there with the 91 and 92's having fairly stiff suspensions from the factory in the hatchback models. Feel free to e-mail me if you have specific questions.
The jist to this is if each car has had the same amount of wear over the years your friends car will outhandle yours in a Slalom course.
