The high/low pressures were in spec, but it would only act up in stop & go traffic in very hot weather, so the real cause was a bit hard to pin down. I do remember that the wiring (after the 1-pole connector) went straight to the coil; I don't recall seeing any kind of PTC or poly-fuse component when I disassembled the compressor.
By the way, David L, I'm very sympathetic to what you must be going through in Hong Kong in August....I seem to recall 40 oC, with 95% humidity. But all the offices have the A/C set at 20 oC, so everyone has a summer cold.
