9005 Bulb Modification for the Low Beam Headlight

Wanted to let you all know that I tried the 9005 bulb modification for the low beam lens on my 1996 9000CS. As you know, the 9005 bulb is for the high beam lens. Since the 9005 runs at 60 watts and the 9006 bulb runs at 51 watts, you would expect an increase in light output. There is definitely a difference in light output without blinding oncoming traffic. Turning on the foglights didn't seem to make much of a difference. Unlike my 80 watt overwattage bulb experience which burned out the daytime running light fuse, the 9005 bulbs seem to be running perfectly. All I did was use a soldering iron to melt the 9005 tabs found in the bulb assembly and the low beam wiring harness slipped in with ease. I guess if I want even more output, I should buy the Sylvania Xtravision bulbs to ensure maximum light output. I have also provided a link that discusses the modified 9005 bulb when compared to other leading aftermarket bulb manufacturers. Hope this information helps others looking for better lighting without going to the "HID" looking bulbs.
