1993 SAAB 9000 CDE (automatic transmission).

When I accelerated the car to about 45 miles/hour, the car somehow could not get next gear so that the car would lose it speed. Further acceleration will get the gear on. I could hear a loud sound from engine when this happened sometimes. Also, I felt a viberation when the car ran. I thought it might be related to front brakes. I then adjusted the front brake pedals. Before I put the RH brake caliper on the disc, I started engine and put the shift on Drive. RH disc rotated slowly and stopped while LH wheel rotated smoothly. The ABS light would be on if I turned wheels to the end. After the adjustment, the gear and viberation situation have been improved. But I got new problems.

One day, I parked the car at a place where it was a little bit up hill. I did not let the front wheels stay straight forward. I put the shift on Park and released brake pedal. After the car was stable (stopped) fully I recalled to pull handbrake. Then I turned off the engine. When I restarted the engine, I could not shift the selector out of P(ark). I turned off the engine and opened the cover of the shift selector. I then used a screw driver to press down the "lock" underneath the selector so that I could shift the selector to N(eutral) to start the engine. By doing this I could drive the car. It did not have any alarm light on. The problem was that the shift lock solenoid (SAAB recalled this part for its 1999 model) does not react when the brake pedal has been depressed. I checked the switch at the brake pedal. It was 12 V at open circuit. (Note, this switch is different from the brake light switch.)

Next day, I started the car in the same way described above and drove it to a gas station. Because the car was stopped on a flat place the front wheels were straight forward, the car did not have other problem when I left the gas station. Then I went to another place to pump tyres. I stopped the car near the pumper where it was a little bit down hill and I did not let front wheels stay straight forward either. When I restarted engine at N(eutral), TCS/CTRL light was on and accelerator pedal was not repulsive. Engine ran weakly. The car got no power to move. With the engine was off and battery was connected, I disconnected one wire plug near the shift selector because I worried about the shift lock solenoid problem. Then the engine could not be started at all when I turned on the ignition. It is just like low battery situation. Starter has no reaction. TCS/CTRL light is on. Err light also comes out and disappears when the voltage display comes up.

I double checked ECS/TCS plug under the driver seat but it does not help.

If the first problem originally was related to throttle/TCS without any alarm indication, did I go to a wrong direction in finding clues along brake/ABS so that shift lock solenoid was affected which the problem is related to TCS again? Did the parking situation on a slope place let the ABS and ECS/TCS take fault information from wheel sensors?

Can any SAAB expert help?

Thanks.
