Sometimes a tranny will do a little of this in cold weather. I have one that does and another that doesn't. Saab ofered a set of springs to minimize holding in gear too long. This could be a case of bad governor seals. A bad seal causes the trany to start in second, which may not be very noticable. For the same reason the trans tends to hold in gear on down shifts. Try shifting it manually, starting in 1st then selecting higher gears at appropreate speeds. Do the same for down shifts and see if it behaves better. For more info, search this sight for governor seals.
