We are in the process of replacing the infamous balance and timing sprockets, guides, chains, and tensioners on the 92 turbo. We pulled the timing cover and left the head in place. We have it all apart except for the aft timing chain guide. It pivots on a pin coming out of the block and can not be removed because the top of the guide is up in the head. My question is, can the pin be removed or do I have to pull the head? TIA, Richard
PS- The chains had been rattling for a long time. We found the balance shaft tensioner completely slack, as well as very worn guides, and moderately worn sprockets, especially the balance shaft sprockets. No teeth were missing.
