Here's a copy from an old posting of mine. All '98 9000's came with Aero suspension and Aero wheels. On stick models, they came with the Aero turbo (Mitsubishi TD04, 225 hp, VIN "R"), and on auto models they came with the CSE turbo (Garrett T25, 200 hp, VIN "M"):
"The style of spring is determined by many factors, such as what accessories the car has, what tranny, US/European-spec, etc. And it differed from year to year. For the '98, I don't know why some came with Aero springs, and others didn't--there wasn't even a correlation with how late into the model year the car was manufactured.
Here are the color bands again:
FRONT: Orange-White-Yellow-White-Orange (M/T)
Orange-Green-White-Green-Orange (A/T)
REAR: Yellow-Green-White-Green-Yellow (BOTH)
These springs were also called the "Sports Suspension" option in earlier models.
As for the dampers (shocks), not many people posted on this, but the few that did matched what I have in mine: # 46 46 758.
ALL '98 9k's came with 19mm sway bars, front AND rear (18mm bushings will NOT fit on a '98, no matter what the parts supplier tells you!)."
