I am going to change the transmission fluid on my 91 9000cdT tomorrow. I know that there is no drain plug for this model year, so I am planning to siphon the fluid out through the dipstick hole (as is described on several websites) and then replace the fluid through the same hole.

On the Quasi site step 1 of the procedure is to remove the pan and dump and clean it. I'm a fledgling DIYer and ... well, what pan? Where? How do I get it off? Dumb question? Is there a pan on other models but not the 91?

I am super nervous about doing this. I just got this car after the frame on my 89 900 rotted and cracked in 3 places. So I can't afford to have to replace anything I screw up. Particularly not a transmission.

The tranny shifts into D & R smoothly from P and generally seems to work well, it just shifts a littel harder than I would like sometimes and you can really feel the downshift while decelerating at around 35. I don't have the service history on the car but it seem s to have been well cared for. 95,280 mi when I got it a month ago and I have put over 1000 on it since. A great step up from the 900 and I am really enjoying it. I am just hoping I can enjoy it more with freah tranny oil in there to put my mind at ease.

Thanks in advance.

PS: I'm hoping I can respond when folks respond to this, but every time I try to reply to the BB it won't let me. Something about my e-mail address or something.
