but then I am a used car dealer. Auctions and repos are a mixed bag but you can get some beautiful cars--cheap. Saabs scared the whee out of most dealers and it doesn't take much to get the to dump them at the auction--a check engine light comes on and it's "goodby." I look for cars that have just enough wrong to scare everyone, but stuff a Saab buff like me knows how to fix thanks to Saabnet. Example: a red 91 9000 Turbo 5 speeed with 135,000. The ventilation fan was dead (middle of summer) and it was leaking antifreeze from somewhere. It had a pin hole in a weird Saab only hose (about $30) and it needed a resister for the fan (around $75). But it was a one owner car with service records from new and a shop manual. I bought it for 30% below wholesale. Another was a '93 900T convertible with 92K. The hood needed to be repainted, the drivers window had come off it's trak and it had a broken exhaust stud and a few odds and ends. But I bought it for HALF of what wholesale was. Turns out the car had a factory new engine and trans at 80K. I'm not selling it. Another was an '84 900T with 92,000 miles, two owners and never driven in winter. It had a gas leak no one could figure out becuase they don't hang out at Saabnet. Bought it for $700, fixed it with a $3 gromet, drove it for a year and could still kick myself for selling it. You have to know what your're looking at and be able to look beyond a few minor problems. If you can do that you might find a real steal, but be very careful.
