Yeah, I'm in western NY state, where it's ALMOST safe to take off the snows!
I really love the car, in fact I had the heater core done a couple years back, as well as the clutch master cylinder, the emergency brakes, fuel lines, etc. The tranny is stil strong, and unbelievably, so is the original turbo. The ABS is kaput, long time ago - bad computer.
There are a few issues bothering me - especially the seat belt tensioners - they're basically set to fire off an explosive cartridge to lock the belts in the event of a crash. The label on them says "Check after 10 years," or something. I guess the powder goes bad. Also, no airbags. I have fairly young kids, so the safety thing was on my mind. (Asked the dealer about the belts - there's no way to check the charges, just have to go with new ones - expensive, and used parts are a bad idea for obvious reasons.)
So, I bit the bullet and found a really nice 9-5 Aero, CPO, '01. But if my wife didn't drive a 9-5 wagon, I'm not sure what I would have done. The 9000T hatch is just so amazing in terms of what you can stuff in there.
I guess the stupid part of getting rid of the 9000T is that I think the typical buyer at the service station will be looking for a "junker," and the typical reader of Saabnet classifieds is a different story.
