Did they save $50-$100 per vehicle on the Valve and hoses? I can not imagine the software part being a cost issue. Maybe they just wanted another way to make the intro model less desirable than the higher up model?
I upgraded my CS to 200hp. I must say the 170hp was not terrible. I drive pretty conservatively. It is nice to have the extra fullness at all parts of the RPM range.
