That was our theory too, but it turns out to have been the hi-pressure hose between the master and slave. At least the transaxle doesn't need to come out! Between my son (AndyJ) and I, we have taken 5 9000 5-speeds to over 750K total miles without ever having to change a clutch, just 2 master cylinders and now, a hose. I am very relieved not to be the first to experience a slave failure. Thanks for responding.
