1995 Saab 9000 Timing Belt - What should I do?

I bought a 1995 Saab 9000, CDE V6 about 2 months ago. It is a beautiful car and is loaded with all the options. (92K mi) I bought it around $1000 under market value and put an additional $1000 worth of seals, gaskets and other work into it to bring it up to par. I drove the car for about a month and then the timing belt went out. (A Saab pro knows what that does this car.) I know I have bent valves, but I didn’t have the mechanics dig any further. I have been told that there is an 80% possibility of having to get a completely new (rebuilt) engine. I’ve also been told that worst case scenario I would have to spend $4500 to make the car right. Am I throwing good money after bad to fix this car? (I would be $8500 into a car that books around $4250) Should I sell it as is? How much would the right person buy this car for in its current condition?
