Like many of you I have a later year 9000, and although it's 8 yrs old, I have no intention of ever getting rid of it.....except....for the issue of safety. The newer Saabs have active head restraints and side air bags. Despite the fact that I think it should be mandatory to retrofit older cars with newer safety features I don't think it will ever happen even if people were willing to pay for it. Here's my question: Can it be done? Could I do it? Does any company do it? Either by changing my seats or retrofitting anything to fit in any of the side air bags? I am less concerned about the rear because we rarely have more than two passengers. I worry about safety but can't see shelling out 20K to buy a late model 9-5 given that I think my 9000 is a better car in many ways.
