As internet shopping grow bigger and bigger you will find big price differences in everything, not only car parts.
It's no secret that many/most European car makers use Bosch parts all over the cars and that they are only packaged in Saab, Volvo, Mercedes or whatever boxes.
Since the internet after market industry only need to have a warehouse in some dirt cheap area of the country and staffing it with cheap partnumber locator/packaging people, they can lower the prices substantially compared to the dealer that has to have it's shop located at major thoroughfares where rent is high. Plus they need to have a fairly upscale building to attract people.
Yes, you can do savings by getting the parts yourself IF? you can find someone that install them for you. Some shops refuse, and some shops leave no warranty whatsoever on the part supplied by the owner.
It might also be that the shop charge a higher labor rate to install customer supplied parts since, after all, we are only here to make money and if we don't make enough money to stay in business, we have to do something else.
Profit on parts and profit on labor is complex balance that must cover all expenses for the daily cost of opening the doors and pay salaries to both employees and owners.
