3 wires probably, 4 wires no. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Sat, 4 Mar 2006 21:22:36 In Reply to: Yes, Ari [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 4 Mar 2006 16:29:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When it comes to the OBD 2 and 4 wire sensors it gets much more comlicated than just hooking up the 2 white wires to white, grey to grey and black to black.
I have ran into a couple of problems where the resistance in the heating element is different (about 2 Ohm difference) on different sensors and all depending on if the cars computer is checking that feature or not, it will turn on the check engine light.
The fuel mixture up and down curve might supply enough and proper data but the pre heating element gets screwee and triggers the light.
When dealing with only 2 Ohm difference you would think that that is not a heck of a lot and it is even almost within the specs of Saab so you don't think, that could be the problem when the proper sensor have about 2.5 Ohm and the one that doesn't, have have a reading of about 4.0 Ohm.
In some cars, those odd sensors work since the fuel computer is not accurate/stingy enough or doesn't check the heating element but in others it won't.
