Rob,
I've used MAPP for years in car work. The list involves exhaust, brake, front end fasteners, etc. I find the diffuse yet hot flame MAPP offers to be the right tool for me. I'm not skilled in oxy-acetylene at all.
MAPP+O2 may well be a useful combination to own but I would read the labelling or more generally research the temperature range it provides. MAPP alone works well for me but this does involve time to heat a stubborn bolt or nut and often times repeating heating of the part in question several times before the fastener loosens. MAPP+O2 may shorten the time or reduce the number of iterations required to do the same work. I've seen these kits as well and had the same thoughts but have yet to take the time to learn more about them.
My technique involves heating the fastener in light that is regarded as inadequate. I use the feedback provided by the orange glow of the heated fastener to know how long to heat it and where to locate the flame. These visual clues have proven to be excellent aids in my efforts over the years.
Do you need MAPP+O2? I'm not completely convinced in view of my experience with MAPP. However, you may get back in the house before I do!
