Aeroguy's fix calls for teflon-lined, stainless steel braided hose: really heavy-duty material, designed for high temps and pressures. My guess is that the Home Depot sink connecting line is made of polypropylene or polyethelyne with a decorative stainless cover - this will probably melt at underhood temperatures or blow out from the pressures in a hydraulic application.
