should just pop out -- I think I've always gently pried on the rear part of it -- if you use some sort of padding underneath your prying implement you can probably protect the wood. Or there might be a way to push it up from underneath the console, but I don't remember at the moment.
After that it's a matter of carefully popping the switch pack open, using your little tiny flathead eyeglass (or watch) screwdrivers. All the little copper rockers will come pouring out. Then look them all over for any signs of carbon (should be obvious). I usually use one of my eyeglass screwdrivers to scrape the carbon off, although others like to use a pencil eraser to avoid leaving grooves which can accelerate the re-carboning process.
Once everything looks pretty clean (doesn't have to be perfect), replace all the rockers in their keepers, being mindful that they should rock back and forth, and gingerly attempt to reassemble the pack. It'll probably take you several tries and you have to test each switch's motion to make sure it's correct. Eventually you'll have a good idea how everything goes together though.
Then reconnect the connector and make sure they work electrically.
It'll be obvious if your sunroof switch is hugely carboned up. It'll be a big black mess!
