Inside the heater box there are two flaps, controlled by the arm. My guess is that one or both of the flaps has broken. The arm can move, but it's broken inside. There are additional linkages inside.
Cold works fine because the flaps are probably stuck in the outside air position. This gets outside air, and if you turn on the AC, outside air through the AC coils. The bad news is that about the only thing you can do is replace the heater box. If you're in there, think about heater core and blower motor. Yes, the job just got bigger.
As to the EDU display - how are you sure the bulbs are OK? What do you see? Typically the bulbs die and the display is blank. If the display dies and the bulbs are working, you see a bunch of random stuff. That's because it's a backlit LCD. If you shine a flashlight on the EDU, does it appear OK? If so, it's the EDU bulbs.
Otherwise, there should be no connection between the EDU and the heater box. Even if the EDU was missing, it won't impact the heater box.
