Why does troubleshooting defy analysis and black magic? Things that make sense never are the solution. Nor do strong hunches, old wives tales, or beating, cursing and pounding on the hood or kicking tools. Nor does methodical dissassembly and plug and chug.
In the end its always some unlikely thing that never ever happened to anyone else like a photosensitive boost controller that operates correctly at day and not at night or some miniscule minor contact taht lies next to a junction for 62 grounds on the backplane of the ECU that only acts up when its 76% humidity.
I've blown two Fuel Pump Relays and this is certainly by not coincidence.First time I was dead on the NJ Turnpike with a NO START. Curious thing is the second time the car actually ran and got me quite a ways, I just had to keep the vacuum in the -20 to -5" range. CEL pulled 6 flashes. This morning i went towork on the car and it was NO START. So I plugged in a brand new FPR, and the car ran like it was fresh off the assembly line!
Of course I will replace the Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, all the relays, Fuel pressure Regulator, plugs, just to be on the safe side and also buy a spare ECU, DI and boost controller...and I know the problem is going to happen again..........
PS My Fuel Gauge is always reading full annd i think its more than a coincidence. I am going to open up that tank. probably a Goldfish that likes gasoline swimming around in there............
