Hello Burt,
and thanks for taking the time to share your experience with me. I finally got the PP replaced today and what made it all possible was the removal of the small piece of carpet covering the side of the transmission "hump".
Doing so gave me some room which allowed me to maneuver the screwdriver I used to separate the "helmet" of the PP from the ball on the gas pedal.
Once I got that separated, I used a an extended long nose plier to remove the lock washer that secured the bottom part of the PP and that's pretty much the story on the removal.
In reinstalling the replacement, I reversed the procedure and used the long nose plier to force the "helmet" on to the gas pedal.
Thankfully the used PP I purchased from Gullwing worked although I was not too concerned as they gave me a year's warranty which undoubtedly the dealer wont.
Your summary certainly gave me the confidence to keep on as I was losing patience and was almost ready to give up after almost an hour of trying and figuring out the how to go about the disassembly.
Thanks again !
Oni
