Starting Problem

I just got done replacing the radiator on my 1988 SAAB 9000 Turbo. It has a brand new battery in it. The cooling fan is still removed. When I try to start it, the ignition coil does not fire and the starter does not go, but all the lights inside go out. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I am guessing I hit a connection and it is not contacting. I have yet to check the starter solenoid but I will tomorrow. Also, is there a way to turn off the blower so the A/C or Heater is not always on?
