My younger son has been using the 95cse turbo for the summer. He drives with his ipod turned up extremely loud so he is totally oblivious if anything is worng with the car unless it stops moving. Just last Friday I noticed the car has a different sound as he came home to the driveway. I noticed there is very loud valve tapping noise. Oil level is okay, at around 5k mark during the 10k change interval. Could the oil pressure sensor stopped working? I asked myself.

Today he took the car out again. Didn't want to take the anemic Volvo. Then he called me in the afternoon the car was stalled and he could not start again 4 miles from home. The starter does no turn in his attempt to restart.

I immediately went home from the office. Went to the scene with a battery. Same thing. So I called AAA to tow it home.

To me no crank could not have been simpler. Either the strter is bad or the ignition switch is. There could be no others if the battery is good. Car stalled while running and cannot be restarted again sounds odd to me. My first guess is the ignition switch. Replaced with that on the 94cde in the driveway. No go. Next I took the starter out to bench test it. The starter was also good. Now I was puzzled. Then I jacked the car up in fifth trying to turn the wheel. It would not budge.

What could it be? Baring a seized alternator, I think it is more likely the engine. I was sruprised there was no oil pressure indication. Bad sensor? Problem is I am going away on extended busines for the next three weeks. The car will be sitting in the driveway like a dead duck.
