Repairing Airflow Bumper Plastic Posted by Daven [Email] (#290) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Daven) on Wed, 13 Feb 2008 12:41:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey all!
Does anyone know of a way to add/repair the plastic on a 9000 bumper? The hole for the tail pipe on my 9000 Airflow bumper was cut out in a rectangle shape and the new Magnaflow exhaust tip I want to install is 4" round. I was wondering if theres a way to melt & mold some new plastic onto the bumper, sand, and paint.
What made me think of this was the time I repaired the deep gashes in my snowboard bottom by melting plastic into them, then shaving them down and waxing to a smooth finish that hasn't cracked for over 4 years.
I'm making some final decisions about the exhaust system I'm going to install. I'm planning on ordering some 2 1/4" aluminzed steel piping, a couple 45deg. & 90deg. bends, and a 2 1/4" in/out dia. Magnaflow muffer from Summit Racing. I'll probably hire a muffler shop to weld half the components and clamp the other ones myself for low-cost and ease of assembly.
But my other pondry is whether I should cut a new tailpipe hole more toward the center of the bumper and run a muffler/tip combo instead of welding in a muffler and needing two bends for the exhaust tip to fit perfectly in the existing hole...and probably sticking out too far anyway. Of course this scenario requires filling the first hole.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
