93 CSE non turbo. I'm trying to drain the gas tank by using the fuel pump to drain it and I can't figure out the fuel lines. Of course, Haynes is worthless on this topic, no pictures. I'm trying to find the return line so that I can disconnect it and connect a hose to drain the tank. Its the same line you would disconnect to check the operation of the fuel pump by measuring the volume of fuel it pumps over 30 seconds.
The fuel rail runs between the valve cover and the intake runners. On the left hand side (facing the car from the front) of the fuel rail is what looks like a small diaphragm connected to the fuel rail by a banjo bolt. Connected to the diaphragm is a fuel line that runs back to the tank.
To the right of the fuel rail is is another fuel line that comes from the tank that is connected to another much larger diaphragm looking thing which is under the ducting that runs from the air filter housing to the throttle body.
Which one is the return line?
