Years ago I TIG welded a leaky transmission shut once. An axle had gouged the case when it lost an bolt on a CV joint. Removing the gearbox would have required removing (lowering) the engine/AWD assembly completely. Toughest weld I have ever done in my life. Everybody I had spoken about it beforehand first recommended JBweld but I was stubborn since I believed it could have possibly been structural damage. In hindsight I should have listened to them and taken the JB risk.
