another manual transmission shifting issue Posted by Henry Helfman [Email] (#787) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Henry Helfman) on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 10:14:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently purchased a low mile '94 aero for a song with a known transmission issue. It is very difficult shifting into 5th and reverse.
PO claims somebody accidentally shifted from 5th to reverse on highway thinking it was a 6spd and his shop claims it needs to have the reverse gear rebuilt so I bought it with the intention of swapping in the gearbox from my crashed '95 aero. PO also claims prior to that incident, finding the 5th gear gate is also difficult.
I haven't been able to check the coulpler in the light yet but the PO said his mechanic already ruled that as okay. Engine mounts look new (up top)
It shifts into 1-4 better than any other 9000 I have ever driven and when I can locate 5th gear, it then goes into reverse easily as well. Is it possible it might just need a shift alignment?
