Check the plastic joint on the trailing edge of the roof that lets the wiring run into the hatch for the lights. If the corrugated plastic wiring loom cover is cracked, wind blown water runs down inside the wiring loom and then the sheetmetal of the hatch and drips out of a screwhole for the black plastic trim on the hatch. I found this out when I had a pair of hiking boots sitting in my trunk and only ONE boot filled up with water. That explained the dampness that fogged the windows and wet carpet I noticed prior to putting the boots in the car.
These cars can be challenging......
