Fuel Level Sending Unit Diagram

Anyone here have knowledge of which wires do what regarding the wires connected to my fuel level sending unit. I suspect two are for the level and one is for the low level light.....but which are which? I'm trying to rule out the sending unit in my "the needle is well below empty as though the car is turned off" issue. I was thinking of jumper a couple of wires together to see if anything changes. This is for the older style "Not part of the pump assembly" sending unit just like that used in the 900.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan Goldade
