Bad Voltage Regulator & DI Failure

1997 Aero 150,000 miles - Can a failing voltage regulator cause DI failure? My car has been eating DI's over the 18 months. I've been through one brand new one & 2 used. Always the same Random, multiple misfire code. The other day the AC dropped out on the highway for a while & I noticed that the voltage briefly dropped below 13 at the same time. When the car came back to idle speed the AC came back on. A day later the DI acted up again. Just wondering if it all could be somehow related....
Thanks
