Well, I guess the casting is the same, but the parts are different. I looked it all up in EPC and found out these details:
94-98 V002172 Cyl Head Casting - 91 47 927 (No Longer Serviced)
94-98 V002173 Cyl Head Casting - 91 85 208
The only difference I see between Turbo and Non-Turbo in the head is the camshafts.
They apparently use the pistons to alter the compression ratio. Check this out (last three numbers are Class AB, B, C, +0.5 mm, +1.0 mm):
94-98 Non-Turbo Piston - 91 49 360 (378,386,394,402)
94-98 Turbo Piston - 91 49 436 (444, 451, 469)
I'm not sure what that class means, but I am guessing it's CS, CSE, & Aero. Looks like they don't offer a +1.0mm piston for Turbos.
