Clutch Bleeding Issues...

Alright, I'm puzzled here... My 92 9000S lost clutch pedal pressure, but wasn't leaking fluid, so I replaced the clutch master cylinder. Now, I'm running into some issues.
First, I had a hell of a time getting the bleeder valve to open, but now it seems to be working fine.
I am using a siphon attached to the bleeder to pull fluid through the system. This seems to work, albeit slowly, however, it might not be adequate?
When the clutch pedal is up, no air comes through. When the clutch pedal is down air comes through the bleeder.... and fluid in the reservoir doesn't seem to be pulling through.
When I push the pedal down, it seems like fluid is leaking out of the slave.... Which makes me wonder, why would this be? If the initial problem was a nonfunctional clutch and dropping reservoir, I'd understand, but... It seems odd that seals in the slave would suddenly fail, too?
Any ideas folks? I DO believe that the pedal has to be down to bleed the clutch system? Any advice that you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
