Clutch throwout bearing dead after 25K miles... Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Sat, 8 Aug 2009 23:25:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...on my 1990 9000s. Everything was replaced at 228K - disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, slave and master cylinder, shift coupler. I'm now around 254K and my throwout bearing dumped today on the highway in 5th gear. Clutch pedal feels normal and I'm not seeing any fluid leaks. No first or second gear, and there's that lovely high-pitched tinny grinding/grating noise.
If I'm going to go through the trouble of replacing the t/o bearing, aside from any obvious damage to clutch parts once I'm in there, is there any reason to replace anything else? I know it's usually recommended just because of the pain-in-the-ass factor, but there's less than 30K on all of these other parts...
Suggestions?
Many thanks.
