OT: Surcharge for use of Credit Card? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 11 Aug 2009 09:05:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Asking for the collective wisdom here: Our small startup business selling eco-friendly home decor materials sometimes books a large order, i.e. a complete kitchen. What is the common prcatice for accepting credit cards for large purchases, i.e. $15,000 - $20,000? Is it fair to tack on a surcharge to cover our costs, or perhaps a surcharge on amounts over $5000? The only personal experience that I have had similar to this was trying to pay for a car with a credit card - the dealer would only allow $5000 to be put on a card.
I'm thrilled to get any business right now, but wondering what is acceptable to keep our profits from evaporating...........
