Anyone cut out the Fuel Pump Retaining Ring?

Hi,
I can not get the stupid fuel pump retaining ring out of my '96 9000.
I tried to make the tool using PVC but didn't make it perfectly enough.
I would never survive as a finish carpenter.
So I bought the new retaining ring and will cut out the old one.
I plan to use a hacksaw blade and some snips. (dremel with cutting wheel? sparks?)
Any suggestions?
Also, I bought the insert pump from eEuro and it came with a piece of fuel line and 2 hose clamps. Is that part of the operation obvious?
Thanks,
Peter
