There actualy is quite a lot going on here
If the calipers where rebuit, then there should be the correct grease in the pin sliders. You may find that the sliders are not square with the rest of the caliper housing and bridge bracket (Pins should not be undone, or the colets the pins go into). Un even pad ware in this case sounds like there is some jambing, but you say they slide OK. So, what else could it be? I would check the piston boot seal, this is responsible for piston and pad retraction, if it is not rolling back and providing clearence the inboard pad will continue to make contact with the rotor, even though the outer pad is making clearence.
But only 10k miles, och, what are these pads made from butter? they should last longer than that eh, I would start there before attacking the calipers
