Unless the line is blocked the fuel pump will deliver just enough to keep the engine at idle it is the "limp home mode" just don't expect there to be power and the ability to climb up a reasonable hill. Yours did and then stopped, suggesting that this is not the problem.
Agreed that a tacho not bouncing normaly indicates a bad CPS, but I am in a no start situation at the minute and I think that mine is OK, all things are pointing towards the DI/APC which controls the firing!
Perminant no start is easier to find than an intermittent problem at least
You can do the DI test ie. the one grounding the plugs, this will at least tell you:-
1/ If your CPS is somewhat working
2/ If the DI is OK
If no spark and your CPS turns out OK (There are a couple of CPS tests that can be performed with a DVM), then its time to move up the chain and the DI/APC is the next stop. See if you can find a nice wreaker to test it for you!
This week end I will be testing / replacing my DI/APC. I am assuming that you have a seperate DI/APC and not Trionic
Cheers
