Farewell 9000 BB. It’s been fun, educational, and economical. 99% of the info that I received on this BB was accurate and helpful. It kept all my Saabs reliable and in good condition up to and over 200,000 miles. Regrettably, time goes on and the miles take their toll. The last of my 9000s are leaving, likely for parts or the junkyard. Through the last 10 years, I got my kids through school in affordable safe vehicles and commuted in one myself. The kids tallied up 5 deer, 1 big truck trailer hitch, and 1 professor. (actually, the rear end of her car.)
1986 9000turbo (parts)
1988 9000turbo (totaled twice, tallied 4 deer)
1989 9000CDturbo
1991 9000turbo (a ‘parts car’ that I drove for 2 years)
1992 9000turbo (for engine)
1993 9000CSE (still running, but one of the parts cars to go)
1994 9000CS (totaled by 1 deer)
1994 9000Aero (totaled by professor’s rear bumper)
1997 9000Aero (engine replacement in progress, but will never finish)
I’ve purchased a 9-5 wagon recently to use in my commute, so I’m not out of Saabs altogether. But I’m more likely to let the local indies do the work. Though i have not posted much in the last few years, the reference value of this site is unsurpassed.
Thank you to the contributors of the 9000 BB for the help and online camaraderie. There isn’t another site for any other car that I have found to be as helpful. Each of you should be commended for your willingness to help and share information. Good bye from southeast PA.
