He outlined the DIY for one a while back.. It's Brilliant. Making a belt change a mere Niusance rather than an ungodly adventure.
My version was a 10" long 3/8" redi rod (threaded rod) With the end bent into a 90 degree hook A Piston wrist pin (an old Yamaha one) that slides up and down the threaded rod with a 1/4" bolt.. head and shank of which is approx 3/8" long welded (brazed on mine) onto the centre of the wrist pin.. followed by a large washer and the appropriate nut on the redi rod.
What results is a spring compressor gizmo that when hooked into the appropriate eyes on the belt tensioner unit.. allows one to compress it, neatly and safely, as necessary for Serp for belt replacement.
Note trhis was Variant #3 of Bob's tool as I kept breaking the original design.. likely because i built it poorly.
IF someone needs a photo as clarificationh, let me know and I'll try and figure out how to post a photo of mine.
