Engine mount procedure: I just finished replacing the front lower mount on my 88Turbo and it was much easier than Quasi or Townsend had me believe. I had planned on a good half day but here I am writing it up after only 2 hours ( and I like to take my Zen time with car repair). Jack and support front left of car at the jacking point. Remove wheel and front side of fender liner. Remove AC belt. Remove front ,back, and upper mount nuts and bolt. Jack up engine as far as you can with a piece of 1" thick soft wood the same size as oil pan to protect the pan - use a jack that has good descent control. Remove two 13mm bolts from under the front corner of the sub frame. Remove two bolts from mount leaving limiter bracket attached. Insert long pry bar between subframe and oil pan. Pry apart judiciously with left hand while right hand removes mount. Put in new mount with limiter assembly attached while prying again , reconnect subframe, start the 2 mount bolts then carefully lower the engine onto the mounts and ensure that nothing is getting hung up on the way. Replace and tighten all fasteners, liner etc. and you're done. Incidentally,
I discovered that the part number 8786006 is compatible with this 88 car and I got it at a better price than the specified 7551104. These parts may not be "reverse compatible" if you have an early 90's car with the 2.0L engine. My car feels new again: clunk-free shifting and I no longer hear or feel the engine at idle. I should mention that my rear mount was replaced about 2 weeks ago and the upper mount a few years ago, and I did the limiter modification. It's definitely a job worth doing if you can get the hydraulic mounts at a decent price.
