I had my manual trans rebuilt, and at that time replaced my clutch and slave cylinder (end of 2009, and have put less than 5K on the vehicle since then). The ScanTech slave failed this week, so I'm in the same boat. I'd hoped to never have to remove the transmission ever, ever again... last time I had access to a lift. This time it's going to be in the driveway, which I'm not looking forward to at all. At least south Texas weather isn't too brutal this time of year.
ScanTech, never again.
Anyone got any tips for doing this on your back under the car? If I have a couple of trans guide bolts fashioned, can I slide the transmission sideways enough to remove and replace the slave without dropping the whole transmission out of the vehicle?
