The CPS will go out with varying symptoms. So it could be on it's way out. The 1991/1992 is behind the crank pulley and a bit more difficult to get to, and more expensive too. I used the eEuroparts.com (a site sponsor!) unit for a c900 1992/1993 CPS, it's a splice in for that year and after taking mine out... it's the same!
On the other, I would look at the DI, it also has history of taking out just one cylinder, especially under load, with a slight miss. You can get them used for not much money at all.
I would get another DI, and carry it with me and tools and some gloves, and the next time it goes bad, pull over and swap the DI and drive that way for several days, if it stays to the good... I would not bother putting the old DI back in.
