The first thing that you want to do is to determine whether the switchpack for the window buttons is not the problem. See if you can switch the switchpack with another one to determine that the problem is really with the regulator, or if it is a matter of the switchpack contact requiring cleaning (which is not all that difficult of a job). If it is the regulator that is the problem, first do a search on removing the door panel, which is not that difficult once you learn where all the various torx screws holding it on are located. Once you remove the door panel, removing and installing a replacement regulator is a matter of eight bolts and one electrical connector. Again, doing a search on this board with give you the necessary information. We just replaced a regulator on our 1991 9000 and it was all of a 30 minute job, and not all that difficult. The used regulator that we purchased on e-bay was $50 which included shipping.
